Since we couldn't find cheap accommodations in the national park itself that suited all our needs, we chose to stay in Tullah Lakeside Lodge instead, a hour and a half away from Cradle Mountain National Park. Although the drive was relatively short (compared to our 6 hour drive we had the night before), the scenery was nothing short of amazing. What fascinated us the most was how the fog brought out the eerie silhouettes of animals, trees, and all sorts of objects. We couldn't help but imagine play the OST of Stranger Things as we drove along.
The game plan was pretty straight forward, we were to do the Dove Lake Circuit— a two-hour return walk.
Slowly but surely, we started going off course. We let our curiosity lead the way as we went from one lookout to the other.
With just a little less than an hour, we already found ourselves on a different track and on Wombat Pool. (The "L" on the sign was brushed off so neatly that we actually thought it was called "Wombat Poo" until we got back home)
We enjoyed ourselves as Kim helped Rachel climb the nice looking tree trunk, while Jessi and I documented the whole thing lol'ing!
After visiting several lookouts, the alpine mountain slowly lured us. Alas, we finally decided on visiting Marion's Lookout as our final stop before calling it a day.
The terrain and the weather alike, swiftly changed. Before we knew it, we were slipping past the icy trail, and found our sweats beads freezing.
